Meet the Spires family

Serving The Community

My wife Carla, son Sean and I moved to Heath area back in 1992 and moved due to a job transfer to Florida in 2006. While living in Heath, Carla opened a children's specialty clothing store, The Children's Gallery located in the Indian Mound Mall, I was VP/GM of Indian Mound Pontiac Mazda.  Carla and I were blessed to have another son, Auston. He was 6 years old when we moved to Florida. During our time in the Heath area my oldest son Sean graduated from Heath, played baseball, football and wrestled for Heath High School, church softball at Geller Park along with his younger years at Mound City, and Don Edwards Park. As a family, we have always been active and involved in the community thru the sports and church activities. Auston had the opportunity to grow up in top rated public schools and on state of the art ball fields in Lithia Florida graduating from Newsome High.

My wife Carla passed away in 2023 before we moved back to Heath from Cancer...

Sean now lives in Newark with his wife Monique and 3 sons who are Weston (10), Ryker (8), and Sorrin (6) and are very active in sports.

Auston is finishing college and starting a career with the

 Licking County Sheriff's department.

Top Areas that I will focus on immediately

Please reach us at spiresforheathmayor@yahoo.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We will immediately implement the Ohio Checkbook allowing you to see where we are spending the money at any time along with broadcasting the City Council Meetings. By implementing the Ohio Checkbook policy it will allow you to look into the expense accounts such as Contractual Expenses which fluctuates considerably year over year and by expense category.

We need to make sure there is a NEED for every dollar we spend and not just a fleeting want. Improve existing amenities if the budget permits. We also need to plan for upgrades to the city utilities infrastructure .

According to the city financial statements for the years of 2023, 2022, 2021 they show $0 spent on Law Enforcement Training, we need to continually be training on the newest tools available.

From the Major Fund General/Fund Financial Statement the Mayor's Expense category has increased every year! Actual Total Expense (2023) - $228,500 (2022) - $170,700 (2021) - $144,838. The Administration Expense for 12 associates each year has fluctuated (2023) - $705,583 (2022) - $491,103 (2021) - $616,783. In my opinion the associates should be taken care of first before any raises to the Mayor's position.

Work with local agencies to select, train and assist whoever is willing to learn a new trade to be self reliant.

We need to take a team approach to improving the Heath school systems, when people are considering on moving, one of the first considerations is the school system. A great school system adds to our property values as it creates more of a demand for homes in our communities along with growing the elective courses that our students can enhance their future opportunities in the next steps of their lives.

With over 45 years of business experience including starting and opening brand new businesses along with running multi million dollar budgets I can make sure that Heath is in the forefront and maximize all opportunities to benefit the community.
